Lawrence Community Works (LCW), a community development corporation, located in Lawrence, MA, the most economically disadvantaged city in Massachusetts. Lawrence Community Works had a new strategic objective: to move into the workforce development space, supporting and equipping their members achieving financial stability.
Building On supported LCW in their moving into the Workforce Development space, by identifying a relevant RFP from the Massachusetts Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund. Building On advised on grant production; and developed the relationships and structured the MOAs for six committed employer training and hiring partners for an early childhood education workforce training project. This grant was successfully funded by a Commonwealth Corporation Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund grant for $190,000, the highest amount amongst the 14 grants awarded.
“The key to the success of the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund is active involvement between local businesses, community-based organizations, education and workforce development professionals,” Governor Charlie Baker said. “These partnerships create opportunities for the citizens of the Commonwealth and work to strengthen regional economies.”
